What’s therapy really like? Let’s talk it through

Frequently asked questions

  • The initial consultation is a free, 15-minute conversation where you can share what’s brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping to gain from it. It’s a safe and confidential space to see if we’re the right fit to work together before moving forward. During our first full session, we’ll explore your history, background, and anything relevant to your current situation.

  • My fees reflect my experience, expertise, and the costs involved in maintaining my accreditation. Standard therapy sessions are 50 minutes, while EMDR sessions are either 60 or 90 minutes, depending on your needs. Full details of the costs are included in my T&Cs.

  • I’m not currently offering appointments through PMI.  However, I can provide invoices if you would like to claim the sessions through a healthcare plan/your employer.

  • I recommend weekly sessions for the first 4-6 weeks of therapy. After that, we can discuss if switching to fortnightly sessions feels right for you based on your needs.

  • That depends on what you’d like to work on.  Entering into therapy can be a big commitment both emotionally and financially.  The number of sessions varies with each client and this can be discussed during our first appointment.

  • I have slots available Tuesday evenings, Thursday afternoons and evenings, and Friday mornings.

  • Your confidentiality is my top priority, and I follow the BACP and UKCP code of ethics when it comes to your sessions and records. This is outlined in my T&Cs, and I’m happy to discuss it further during our first meeting. If I ever feel there’s a risk to your safety or others, I may need to contact emergency services or your GP, but I’ll always try to talk with you about it first.

  • Before the pandemic, online therapy wasn’t as common, but we’ve since discovered it’s just as effective as in-person sessions. While certain activities like art or role-play may look a bit different online, I’ve found creative ways to adapt. The main thing to keep in mind is a stable Wi-Fi connection – if online therapy is your choice, just make sure that’s sorted!
